Antique German character doll - Armand Marseille 390n (size 9) - circa 1912/1925 Beautiful, authentic antique doll from the renowned German manufacturer Armand Marseille, model 390n. The head of bisque porcelain is completely damage-free. A classic collectible from the early 20th century. Characterful antique porcelain doll, made in Germany by Armand Marseille. This is the highly coveted and sought-after mold number 390n (the 'n' stands for 'neu', introduced from 1912), produced in the generous head size 9. Armand Marseille (Koppelsdorf, Germany) Mold number: 390n / D.R.G.M. 246/1 / A 9 M Period: circa 1912 - 1925 Head: Matte bisque porcelain, with hand-painted details and an open mouth with porcelain teeth. Body: Ball-jointed composition body with movable limbs. Accessories: Includes wig, crocheted bonnet, clothing, and necklace. Porcelain: Excellent and 100% damage-free. The head has been thoroughly inspected and has NO hairlines (cracks), chips, or restorations. Eyes: The doll is fitted with original glass sleep eyes. The internal hanging mechanism (the weight) has come loose, causing the eyes to need to be repositioned and hung manually to make the sleep mechanism (open and close) function again. All original parts for this are complete and present in the head. For a collector or doll doctor, this is likely a simple, small repair. the eyes are currently loose. Body & Clothing: The composition body shows normal, light signs of aging consistent with the age (see photos). The elastics are present. A beautiful, honest object with great potential for the serious collector!
